I got my eMac in the summer of 2002 after I graduated from high school. I took it to college with me. That was a beast of a computer–probably 60 lbs. I loved it, though. My first Mac.

I don’t doubt the power of OS X.

I just said you can buy a PC with 2 or 3 times better specs for the same price of a Mac.

When I bought my current laptop, I was actually going out to buy a MacBook. Then I decided to get better specs, and save some money.

Macs have their upsides, PCs have their upsides. But if you want the specs of a PC in a Mac, you’ll be paying hundreds more. I’d rather pay for hardware than a cool looking shell and a logo.

If I was rich though, I’d definitely have a Mac; just because I could afford it.

I believe that your comment accompanying the post goes to show that you, along with many others have a very fundamental misunderstanding of stark contrast between apple computers running Mac OS X(ten, not ‘X’), and those running and recent Windows OS. For instance if you were to take a “PC” with the same specs as a Mac and run them side by side, the Apple computer is going to greatly out-perform the competition; this is due to the extreme care that Apple has put into the efficiency with which Macs utilize their hardware, something that Microsoft has never cared that much about. Mac OS X requires a measly 512MB of Ram to run the OS while Vista requires 1GB with a suggestion of 1GB + 512MB for the higher performing options. Not only that but when you look at the useful longevity of the machines a Mac will generally double that of any Windows platform providing a stronger base on which to rest your feet, and a long time between purchases thusly saving you money in the long-term. So it might behoove you to take a trip to your local Apple Retail Store and take a look at the products that you so willingly dash with neigh a thought.

Throw it away and buy the new model.
