J.J. Abrams, who directed and produced Star Trek, is already on board to produce the sequel, but is not yet confirmed to be the director. The script is still being worked on, and will possibly be finished by this coming Christmas, giving the sequel a release for the Summer of 2011. No word on casting. Paramount has released 5 new movie posters for Star Trek.
Star Trek is a complete reboot of the series, for the new generation of sci-fi and movie geeks, and stars Chris Pine as James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto from Heroes(Sylar), as Spock, Simon Pegg as Scotty, John Cho as Sulu, and Eric Bana as Nero. I’m looking forward to seeing this, and I’m guessing it’ll be one of the biggest movies on the year. Hopefully it won’t be overshadowed by the surrounding releases. Wolverine, Angels & Demons, and Terminator Salvation all come out in the same month.
