demo – Geekstir

We’ve seen a few trailers for Batman: Arkham Asylum, but now we finally have some gameplay footage, from GDC09! I’ve played most of the Splinter Cell games, and this sort of looks like Batman playing Sam Fisher. That’s not a bad thing. This is the way a Batman game should be; hiding in the shadows, beating baddies down, using gadgets like James Bond. Check out the video, and check out the game when it hits stores in June.

This game is looking better and better every time I see it. Watch as the Max Belanger, the producer of Prototype, walks us through the demo.

There’s a PS3 exclusive called “Infamous”, that is very similar to this game, but I think Prototype looks a lot more fun. You can do 50ft elbow drops, you can absorb people, you can crush heads, you can slice people in half, you can fly…What more do you want?

Prototype is set for a June 2009 release on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Watch the 2nd part of this demo after the break.

It’s here! The Halo Wars demo is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo is 1.4GB in size.

This should giveĀ  a lot of Xbox 360 owners a first look into the world of RTS games. I’ve never played an RTS on a console. I’ve played most of the Total War games, and dabbled into Starcraft briefly, but those were obviously on PC.

I haven’t played the demo yet, I’m sitting at about 15% downloaded. Once I finish the download, and play for a bit, I’ll post my thoughts.

re5demo For the Xbox 360 owners out there, the Resident Evil 5 demo is now available on the marketplace. If you’re a PS3 owner, I don’t know what to tell you; I’m not really up to date on PS3 demo dates.

UPDATE: It looks like the demo is only available for Xbox Live Gold members, not Silver members. Silver members should get the demo in the next week or so. PS3 owners will get the demo on February 2nd.

The download size is 478MB, and only takes a couple minutes if you’re using a decent connection.

You get to play 2 levels, but there’s only about 10 or 15 minutes of gameplay. As soon as the demo started, I noticed the new inventory menu. In previous Resident Evil games, when you brought up the inventory, the game paused, and you could change guns, heal, or whatever you wanted to do. In this game, the inventory pops up in a little box, but the game does not stop. That means, if you’re about to die, good luck healing fast enough or switching to a better weapon.

The full game hits shelves in Japan on March 5th, and in North America on March 13th.

It’s the zombie apocalypse! The Left 4 Dead demo is now available in the Xbox Live Marketplace and on Steam! I just finished the demo, and I have to say, it was pretty scary at first. From watching all the trailers and videos, you know there will be a horde of zombies pummeling you at any second. Wave after wave, the zombies don’t change much, a lot of recycled models, but it’s still fun. It’s not much of a big deal, but I notcied that you’re always aiming. You cannot go in and out of aim, you aim constantly. I guess that would be good thing during the real zombie apocalyspe, at least until you have to scratch your nose or something. All in all, the demo was pretty fun, but I feel like the demo might just have given me enough to see the entire game. It seems like the majority of the game will be just running around and shooting cloned zombies. I think the game might be a little TOO easy on Normal mode. I was surrounded by at least 10 zombies, getting slapped and scratched, and it took at least 15 seconds to get down to half health. I’ll probably still buy the game though. Go download the demo.
