Why bother reading a book, when you can read your computer?

Star Wars Trash Compactor Book Ends

Okay, so maybe I was pandering to the prequel haters with that title. What can I say? I’m riding shotgun in the bandwagon. I don’t know about you guys, but I could definitely feature this on my DVD shelf. It’s awesome. Whoever came up with the idea is a modern day genius.

They are 6 inches deep, 12 inches Wide and 7.5 inches high, made of high quality poly-stone, and they’re individually hand painted. They also come with a unique number and certificate of authenticity.

Sadly, these bookends are only for pre-order right now. They start shipping in April 2010 according to the website. Right now they’re on sale for $189.99, originally $199.99. Pricey, but a definite must buy if you want to show off your Star Wars DVD collection or book collection with style.

Twilight Twilight is now out on DVD. Teenage girls, fans of the book, and boys wanting to see Kristen Stewart are going wild. It’s sold over 3 million copies on the first day of it’s release alone. Having sold well over 3 million units now, Twilight is now in the top 5 best selling DVDs in the past two years. It’s right up there with Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Transformers. Like the movie or not, that is impressive.

To date, Twilight’s theatrical release has grossed nearly $200 million in the United States, and just over $370,000 worldwide. That, plus all the book sales, merchandise sales, and DVD sales means this movie was a success, even if it did have mixed ratings. The movie was such a success that the 2nd movie is currently being worked on, and the 3rd movie already has a release date. The 2nd movie, New Moon, is scheduled to hit theaters on November 20th, 2009. The 3rd movie, Eclipse, is planned and scheduled for a June 30th, 2010 release.

There are 4 books in the Twilight series, so if the 2nd and 3rd movies do well, it’s only a matter of time before the 4th is made. Even though a lot of people bad mouth this movie, and the sequels to be made, they have to remember that the movies are based off books. Books with lots and lots of dedicated fans. It’s almost like Harry Potter…

new_moon_set_11 For all the fans of Twilight, New Moon, and the other two books/movies in the saga, here is a new photo from the set of New Moon, the second chapter in the Twilight series.

Nothing exciting, but probably interesting enough for those die hard fans. From left to right: Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed.

deathlyhallowsphoto2 These are the first photos from the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The 7th movie is being split into two parts, so I wonder if they’re shooting them both at the same time. I assume they are since the first part comes out in November 2010, and the second part in the summer of 2011.

These photos are not the most exciting things we’ve ever seen, but still, they’re awesome for all the hardcore Harry Potter fans out there; myself included.

I can’t wait to see how they take the 7th book and adapt it to the big screen. It’s going to be a lot more dark, and a lot more mature than the first Harry Potter movies. No more school, no more aunt and uncle; Harry, Hermione, and Ron are of age now, and on the run for their lives.

The 6th movie/book, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince opens this Summer, so don’t forget about that. With the last of the movies, and the books finished, what’s next for the Wizarding World and the story of Harry Potter? If you grew up with the books, and they got more mature as you got older, like with me, you have to wonder if we’ll ever see another book…

deathlyhallowsreleasedate1Warner Bros. has announced that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II will be hitting theaters on July 15th, 2011. Seems like so far away, but don’t worry; that’s for Part II.

The seventh and last book will be split into two movies. A thing I’m happy about, because I’m sick of seeing the books butchered to fit into a set time limit.

So, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 opens on November 19th, 2010, and Part II the following Summer on July 15th.

The sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is still set for release this year, on July 17th. It was originally supposed to come out last November, but was pushed back to this Summer.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is coming out on July 17th, and I cannot wait. We should have seen the movie back in November, but the studio pushed it back to the Summer. After this, all we have left is the final chapter, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and it’s being split into two movies. If you haven’t read the Harry Potter books, it’s your loss, they’re much better than the movies. The final movies, as with the books, are growing more mature and dark.

So if you’re into comic books, I’m sure you’ve heard of Marvel Zombies. It’s probably my most favorite Marvel series. Actually, Marvel Zombies vs Army of Darkness and Marvel Zombies 1 & 2 are my favorites, I haven’t read Marvel Zombies 3 yet.

So in MZ, all the superheroes are, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, zombies. They devour Earth of all humans and move on to other planets searching for more flesh and brains. That’s a pretty lame summary, but I don’t want to spoil it for anybody who hasn’t read it yet.

Well, it looks like DC Comics is starting their “own” zombie spin off. I’m not really a DC guy; sure, I like Batman, I grew up watching Batman cartoons and playing with Batman action figures, but I never read the comics.

DC Comics is calling this series “The Blackest Night”, and they’re calling the zombies “Black Lanterns” for some reason…It’ll probably be a good series, but I’m not sure if I’ll be reading it. The art at the top of the post is Superman as a “Black Lantern”.
