Movie Review: Jumper

Jumper Review Where do I begin? Alright, I'll start with the cast. Hayden Christensen takes the lead role as David Rice, a "Jumper", who has the power to teleport wherever he desires. Rachel Bilson plays the love interest, Millie. Samuel L. Jackson plays Rolland, the "bad guy" determined to kill all Jumpers, as he thinks only Gods should have the power "to be at all places at all times."

If you're a fan of comic books, super powers, and that kind of thing, this movie is definitely for you. Of course, this is not the best movie of all time, but it is entertaining and worth the 8 o 9 bucks to go see it. The trailers before the movie were quite good too. The new Indiana Jones trailer showed, a new WALL-E trailer, and a few ones that nobody cares about.

The story of the movie is nothing to write home about. I feel they could have done a much better job giving us a more in depth and epic tale, but they didn't. Maybe if they make a sequel, there will be some sort of super villain, or at least a massive Jumper vs. Jumper battle. There WAS a Jumper vs. Jumper battle in this movie, and it was decent, but come on...If you have the power to teleport anywhere your mind can think of, a battle between two Jumpers could be an entire movie on it's own. I would pay to see that.

I believe there is a small comic book released just to go along with the movie, but I don't think it's a major running comic book. Please correct me if I'm wrong in the comments. Personally, I would love to see this idea turned into a major comic book by one of the big publishers like Marvel, DC, or Dark Horse.

All in all, if you like super powers, and good guy vs. bad guy movies, you should see Jumper. I encourage everybody to go see it, because if Jumper is a success, maybe they will make a sequel, which could have so much potential.

I give this movie a 7 out of 10:

Star Trek XI pushed back to 2009

Star Trek XI is being pushed back to May 8, 2009 by Paramount. Star Trek was set to be released on Christmas, Dec. 25, 2008. Their reasoning is that Star Trek will make more money in the Summer, than on Christmas. I agree, but I'm not happy.

More reasons for the push back is that Star Trek will have less competition, as far as we know. There could be major release dates between now and then. A week before Star Trek XI is set to come out, the Wolverine movie comes out, and a week after Star Trek, Angels & Demons. That sounds like competition to me.

As much as I hate to wait longer for Star Trek, hopefully the movie will wind up making more money, so Paramount is encouraged to make Star Trek 12 faster than the span between Star Trek Nemesis and Star Trek 11.

Thanks to Variety for the scoop on the push back.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I totally forgot about the new trailer coming out today. Thanks to reader PG for reminding me. I guess the trailer was decent. Harrison Ford is looking fit for the role. There wasn't much dialog in the video, just some swinging around on a whip and elbowing people in the face. I'll still go see it though. Will you?

The new Iron Man trailer in HD

I posted a link to this on the night of the Superbowl, when it came out, but finally it's out all over the place, in HD too. See the high def video over at Stage 6. Enjoy.

Trailer: Diary of the Dead

Yes! Another zombie movie. I don't know about you guys, but I can't get enough zombie flicks. Love 'em! Especially when Romero is involved. The only Romero movie I didn't like too much was Land of the Dead...but I bought it anyways because I just can't stay away from the apocalyptic, flesh eating zombie goodness.
