Create a Starship Enterprise NCC-1701 Out of a Floppy Disk

There is no use for the ancient floppy disk anymore. But instead of throwing those little guys away, put them to some creative use, and build a mini NCC-1701 out of them.

Step One
Find one of your old, junk drawer floppy disks. Make sure it has a metal shutter, not plastic.
Step Two
Get your floppy disk, and take it, or break it apart. Make sure you leave the metal shutter unbent. Throw all the junk away, and keep the metal shutter and the magnetic data disk.
Step Three
Peel away the magnetic disk from the metal hub in the center. Cut the tab above the opening on the metal shutter, on the wider side, and angle them outwards, as shown in the photo.
Step Four
Make little snips halfway through the narrow sides of the shutter to facilitate placement of the disk hub (the saucer section).

Step Five
Place the hub on, putting the neck up through the hole closest to the edge of the hub, and inserting the edge of the hole in the hub through the slits you made.

Step Six
Fold the portions of the neck protruding through the hole in the hub down and around the hub to secure.

Step Seven
Use a various color sharpies to add markings to the nacelles and the saucer such as "NCC-1701", lights, etc.
