Guy Pays Car Impound Fee with 8,800 Pennies

So this guy’s car was impounded. The next day he goes to get it out, and the fee is $88. He decides to pay it with 8,800 pennies. For some reason, the clerk won’t accept the pennies. Last time I checked, pennies are a legal tender in the United States. The guy calls the police, they show up, can’t find a law saying pennies must be rolled. An hour later, the penny hater gives in, probably trusting the penny count and not counting them herself, and gives the car back. They really should have gotten Obama involved. She wouldn’t accept change.

    The guys were kinda ennoying but the overall event was awesome i had some kids try this once on me but we had a change counting machine and the joke was instantly neutralized i think i had more fun watching their pathetic smiles drain than they could of ever had giving me all those pennies

    Pennies are our currency. If somebody owes you $5 and they pay you in 500 pennies, take it or forgive the loan.

    Retailers can refuse to accept a large amount of pennies, just as they can refuse to take large bills. It is legal tender, but so is a thousand dollar bill.
